Mission in Action

Building Communities: Mission in Action

Mission in Action is a collaborative project that aids in clean-up and repair of homes across Brown County. Over the course of the program, volunteers have come together to paint, power wash, clean gutters, landscape, weed eat, trim trees and more in an effort to help our neighbors in need. Appreciative homeowners across every community in Brown County have benefited from these projects.

If you would like to join us for a day of volunteering, you can pre-register at the Y. If you are under the age of 18, we must have a waiver signed by your parent or guardian before you are allowed to participate.  Volunteers must be over the age of 12 or in the supervised care of their parents while working.

Many supplies are provided, but if you have rakes, shears, hammers, etc. to bring along, they are appreciated.  Lunch is provided at the Y, with transportation to and from provided free of charge by West Central Mass Transit District.  A wrap-up party with treats and prizes is held at the end of the day, also at the Y.

The BC:MIA project is a collaborative effort between the Y and Two Rivers Regional Council.  United Way provides funding for the projects. All local church youth groups are encouraged to join our efforts. Adult project leaders will be needed. Contact any of the following people if you have questions: Jeff Summers, Becky Pruden, Jean Hulvey.
