Lifeguard

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Healthy Living, the Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with the YMCA core values, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required certifications; Current Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard certification, CPR, First Aid and AED.

  • Required trainings and meetings; Staff Meetings, and  Child Abuse Training.

  • Be able to read and write.

  • Be able to lift at least 25 pounds.

  • Be able to relate effectively to a diverse group of people.

  • Responsible for making sure members follow all rules/guidelines while in the pool area.

  • Be able to stoop, bend and stretch when performing performing activities with children or adults.

  • Be able to use sound judgment when making complex decisions.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a friendly, professional, and positive environment in order to achieve an overall feeling of belonging at the YMCA.Be punctual.

  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

  • Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Healthy Living.
