Community Garden
The community garden shares the Christian values of taking care of our community on a regular basis.
Founded in 2017, the community garden is a joint project shared between the YMCA and Dot Foods’ TLC volunteer program. Each year, a garden of vegetables is planted. Volunteers and Y campers work all summer long to tend to the garden’s needs to ensure a bountiful harvest. Upon harvest, produce is donated to our local food charities. This is vital as this is often the only opportunity these individuals have to receive fresh produce. Our donated vegetables are usually gone within 30 minutes.
Our community garden is used to educate our youth on the value of social responsibility, as well as valuable lessons in agriculture. It provides our Y kids the chance to work in the garden and experience the pride that comes with being a producer.
