Nursery Attendant
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Membership Director, the nursery attendant is responsible for providing a stimulating and safe environment for children while parents are using the YMCA facilities.
Qualifications
Understands the YMCA mission and character development values.
Knowledge of children and their behavior and a genuine desire to work with them
Experience working with children, infants through toddler ages
Ability to build strong relationships with adults and children
Certifications: CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of YMCA rules, regulations and policies.
Being able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
Be able to lift at least 25 pounds
Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond in emergency situations
Essential Functions
Provide a positive, safe and nurturing environment for the children in nursery care.
Never leave a child alone.
Implement character values during care and discipline of each child.
Maintain positive and professional communication with parents of children in nursery care.
Ensure all parents/guardians sign their children in and out of nursery care on appropriate forms.
Sanitize, clean and organize nursery at the end of each shift.
Report any damaged items to immediate supervisor.
Assume any other duties or tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Attend all required YMCA meetings and trainings.
